The Mercedes-Benz 260E was a variant of the W124 Sedan that was introduced for the 1986 model year. Available only as saloon,the 260E was powered by Mercedes' M103.940 engine, which was a 2.6L inline six that generated 170hp that later had a down size to 166hp. The CAT version had 160hp.. This engine sent drive to the rear wheels through a 5 speed manual, or 4 speed automatic transmission options. Production of the W124 Mercedes-Benz 260E ended in 1992 with a total of 154,391 examples built.
